Hard Bite Splint Appliance :

A Hard Dental Bite Splint is more durable and longer lasting than a soft type although it may take just a little longer to become acustomed to. It has much more to offer.

In addition to protecting teeth against wear and damage as a soft splint will do, it is very effective at reducing symptoms including pain and clicking noises from the jaw joints, known as the Tempero Mandibular Joints (T.M.J's).

If the jaw is out of position, for instance it may be deviated to one side, a hard bite splint can effectively reposition the jaw into it's 'natural' position and reduce strain on the T.M.J's.

A hard bite splint can be made to fit either the upper or the lower teeth. Where someone is missing some teeth, the splint is best fitted to the jaw with the fewest teeth. When being fitted, it does take some time to adjust the biting surface so that the 'bite' is perfectly balanced.
